LONDON, 13th August, 2023 (WAM) -- Liverpool FC drew 1-1 with host Chelsea FC in the first round of the English Premier League, which also witnessed a 2-2 draw between Tottenham Hotspur and host Brentford.
At the Stamford Bridge stadium in the capital, London, Liverpool opened the scoring through Luis Diaz in the 18th minute, only for Axel Disasi to equalise for Chelsea in the 37th minute.
Christian Romero opened the scoring for Tottenham in the 11th minute, but Bryan Mbeumo converted a penalty in the 26th minute to equalise for Brentford at Gtech Community Stadium. Yoane Wissa put Brentford in front through his 36th minute goal, but Emerson Royal scored just before the halftime whistle.
